Safety for Seniors Day
Bethany Lippe on 08/12/2014
Mid-Kansas Senior Outreach’s 9th Annual Safety for Seniors day took place August 11, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church. The Triad Council was thrilled for our venue and name change this year. The Stagehands bluegrass band and the Boy Scouts joined us for fantastic music followed by a flag ceremony.
This year’s event hosted a panel of speakers which included Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett, Retired WPD Detective Bradley Bryant, WPD Officer for the Community Policing Unit Lori Kimrey and the State Director of the Better Business Bureau Denise Groene. Our panel presented on elder abuse and followed up with a question and answer session from the audience.
The recipient of the Bonnie Lynch award was one of our dedicated Triad members Rick Eberhard for all of his commitment to helping the elderly population. Safety for Seniors day (previously known as Elder Abuse Awareness day) is an annual event focused on educating the public on elder abuse while providing fun activities for individuals to participate in.
