We exist to empower and assist youth, families and adults in South Central Kansas to achieve optimal mental health and wellness through education, advocacy, and service. MHA seeks to intervene, treat, and educate those throughout south central Kansas in the many forms that mental illness takes among our families and friends, while doing all that we can to remove the sigma too often associated with mental health.

Elder Abuse Conference

MHA’s annual Peane conference was held August 1, 2014 at the Spiritual Life Center. This year’s conference focused on Elder Abuse in Kansas. Deputy Attorney General Loren F. Snell Jr. and Special Agent Mark Montague (pictured above) presented on Vulnerable Adult Abuse in Kansas, Elder Abuse in Kansas and discussed recent legislative changes that effect the elderly population.
The Elder Abuse in Kansas conference objectives sought to educate attendees to identify characteristics of elder abuse, clarify techniques for successful investigation of elder abuse cases and describe recent legislation in Kansas designed to protect vulnerable adults.
MHA and MKSO’s annual Peane Conference presents on topics related to elders that are relevant to law enforcement, socials workers and other disciplines to encourage collaboration in the effort to prevent elder abuse.
