MHA Gears Up for the Holidays
Bethany Lippe on 11/10/2014
Each year MHA sponsors two holiday drives: the Adopt A Bell drive and The Food Drive. It is through the generosity of our donors that these drives are so successful and that our consumers are able to enjoy the holidays to the fullest.
The Adopt A Bell drive provides gifts to individuals and families identified by MHA as being in need during the holiday season. Each year we find that the need in our community is ever-increasing and that our services are needed more than ever. Last year we were able to provide more than 180 individuals and families with the joy of Christmas. One mom said “There were only two presents under the tree until the donors came with more than enough presents for me and my two young girls. Santa was even able to come this year! I was so excited that all of the presents were already wrapped and ready to go. I was so excited for Christmas morning and could not wait to see the looks on the girls’ faces. I cannot thank MHA and all of the donors enough for giving me and my girls a true holiday!” If you are interested in getting involved with Adopt a Bell, please contact Bethany Lippe Anderson at 316.685.1821 ext 237.
The Food Drive provides all of the ingredients to prepare a Christmas meal. Last year we were able to provide nearly 90 individuals and families with the ingredients to prepare a holiday meal. There are many barriers for our consumers to overcome to take advantage of the free meals provided by other organizations in the city. This drive provides a way for those who do not have transportation, are home-bound, have anxiety or have very large families to prepare a meal in their own homes. Food can be dropped off at any MHA location from now until December 19th.
