Domestic Violence Myths and Legacies

This presentation is designed to help professionals better navigate around social myths related to domestic violence, and instead create a fuller understanding of survivors’ individual life experiences. Participants will gain skills in identifying domestic violence dynamics, conversation skills specific to domestic violence, and how to provide safe services. An experiential activity will add insight to the information provided.

Learning Objectives
a. Define and identify a broad range of domestic violence dynamics.

b. Verbalize the generational impact of domestic violence.

c. Use appropriate interview skills to improve disclosure and referral .

d. Recognize local domestic violence resources and assess appropriateness of referral.

e. Apply concepts to practice.
