Early adulthood (also known as transitional age) can be a very difficult time for people. One such individual came to MHA for services in June 2014. Since that time, the counselors have seen tremendous growth and progress in him. In the beginning, George relapsed on marijuana while participating in Mental Health Court. Due to multiple relapses the court threatened him with jail time. It was then that he chose a path of sobriety and recovery. When he became sober his attitude went from hostility to considerate, cooperative and pleasant in group and individual sessions. He has been attending AA and NA meetings as well as staying involved in Peer Support group each week. He is also received therapy, case management, Health Home, Common Ground and Medication Management services from MHA. He is currently working to obtain independent housing and has a long term goal of returning to school to attain an associates degree.
