Youth Leadership Initiative Peer to Peer Program

The Youth Leadership Initiative is a peer-support program designed to promote the recovery of youth, ages 12-18, who have been diagnosed with severe emotional disturbances (SED). The intent of the initiative is to provide mutual support, information/education to youth with SED and their families and to help develop leadership skills for resilient youth. In an effort to reduce the stigma of mental illness, the youth engage in a variety of advocacy activities that also strengthen their leadership skills.

  • To participate in the Youth Leadership Initiative you must be referred or nominated by service providers such as Case Managers, Attendant Care Workers, Parent Support Specialists, etc.
  • Youth group and parents meet twice monthly on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 7:30 PM in the Training Room at Mental Health Association, 555 N. Woodlawn, Ste. 3105, Wichita, KS.
  • N/A - Fees are covered by a state grant.
