We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Decision Support Center which houses our Common Ground program. Common Ground is a web based application that helps to support recovery, wellness and shared decision making between consumers and their prescribing treatment provider. The process starts with the individual meeting with a peer specialist prior to their medication appointment, utilizing the software to complete a report about their health, current goals and needs of the individual, and then exploring the vast number of resources available to help them in achieving their goals. During their appointment, the consumer and the treatment provider review the health report, the consumer’s goals, and decide on a plan for treatment. Common Ground was first implemented by Pat Deegan in 2006 as a mechanism to amplify the consumer voice through shared decision making. The Mental Health Association is dedicated to providing resources and programs which help individuals in their recovery from mental illness and is excited about joining the Common Ground Community.
